Who Really Knows?

It’s crowded sometimes—kids, dog, everyone—but they still want to be close. And that feels enough.

The younger two still sleep in our bed sometimes.

Even Isabelle, at 13.

And yes, it gets crowded. Four people. One 100-pound dog.

It’s not always comfortable.

But we let them.

One day, they’ll stop.

And on that day, I don’t want to wish I’d said no less often.

Is it the right thing to do?

Who really knows.

But for now, they still want to be close.

And that feels like enough.
