It was about an hour and a half before bedtime.
I asked Isabelle if she wanted to play a game.
I expected her to say no.
Most nights she does, and I’ve gotten used to that.
But tonight—she said yes.
Not only that, she picked Clue—her favorite.
I don’t even like Clue.
But I played.
Because how often does a 13-year-old daughter say yes to a board game with her dad?
She didn’t say much. She stayed quiet and focused, just like always.
But I was glad I asked.
And even more glad she said yes.
